Making a promise

How to promise tickets for an event — step by step.

Making a promise is how you commit to attending an event on Promise Tickets. Your card is saved but not charged until the event is confirmed.

How to make a promise

  1. Visit the event page using the link or QR code shared by the event producer.
  2. If the event also accepts contributions, you'll see two tabs at the action area: Promise tickets and Contribute. Promise tickets is selected by default — leave it as-is to promise tickets, or switch to Contribute to make a contribution instead.
  3. Select the performance date you'd like to attend from the dropdown.
  4. Enter your email address. This is where you'll receive all notifications about your promise.
  5. Choose the number of tickets (1-10). The available quantity depends on remaining capacity.
  6. Review the price breakdown — ticket price plus the service fee.
  7. Click the Promise button (it shows the total amount and confirms you won't be charged today).

The progress toward the ticket threshold (and the campaign's fundraising goal, if the producer set one) is shown at the top of the event page so you can see how close the campaign is regardless of which tab you're using.

If you have a question for the producer, click the contact link near the top of the event page to open an email to them.

Stripe checkout

After clicking the button, you'll be redirected to a secure Stripe checkout page. Here you'll enter your payment card details. Stripe saves your card for future charging.

Info

Your card is saved by Stripe — not by Promise Tickets. No charge is made at this time. You will only be charged if the event producer converts the campaign.

After your promise

You'll be redirected to a confirmation page and receive an email with your promise details:

  • Event name and date
  • Number of tickets
  • Total amount that will be charged if the event is confirmed
  • Confirmation that $0.00 was charged today

Multiple promises

You can make promises for different performance dates within the same campaign. Each promise is tracked separately.
